Hillary Clinton Joins Twitter, Uses ‘Texts From Hillary’ Pic
Hillary Clinton has joined Twitter.
Identifying herself as “wife, mom, lawyer, women & kids advocate, FLOAR, FLOTUS, US Senator, SecState, author, dog owner, hair icon, pantsuit aficionado, glass ceiling cracker, TBD … ,” Hils has finally joined the mircoblog months after her former president husband did the same.
Her first two followers were, naturally, Bill Clinton and her daughter, Chelsea. She has since grown to nearly 200,000 followers as of this posting, a number which will only continue to grow in the coming days.
Many are probably sighing “It’s about time,” as Hillary’s absence from the social media site has been extensively noted by other publications like BuzzFeed.
The best part about Hillary Clinton’s Twitter profile is probably her picture. It is a TIME photo by Diana Walker of the then-Secretary of State checking her blackberry while on a military C-17 on route to meet with Libyan rebel leaders in Tripoli.
The photo became famous after the Tumblr “Texts from Hillary” used it for a series of memes depicting Clinton texting back and forth with the blog’s operators as well as numerous celebrities.
So far, Hillary has only published one tweet:
Thanks for the inspiration @asmith83 & @sllambe – I’ll take it from here… #tweetsfromhillary

Husband Bill, himself a recent newcomer to the mircoblog, welcomed Hillary to Twitter on his own page:
Does @twitter have a family share plan? Great to be here with @hillaryclinton & @chelseaclinton. Looking forward to #tweetsfromhillary.
