Kristen Stewart To Star In ‘Camp X-Ray’ And ‘Sils Maria’

Kristen Stewart has chosen not one but two indies as her next projects. The dramas Camp X-Ray and Sils Maria are both scheduled to start filming this summer.

If it seems like she has taken a long break, she has. After appearing in the last part of the super popular Twilight saga, Breaking Dawn: Part 2, in 2012 she has not worked.

Collider is reporting that Camp X-Ray is a political drama in which Stewart plays a young woman who joins the military to escape small-town life only to find herself deployed at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

There she starts a friendship with a captive and is abused by the Muslim prisoners in her charge. Peter Sattler (The Game Plan) wrote the script and is making his directorial feature film debut.

Stewart has also joined Sils Maria, a film which “explores middle age and that introspective period where one questions how they have spent their life so far and what they have accomplished.”

Stewart plays the assistant to Juliette Binoche (An Open Heart), an actress who becomes obsessed with a fellow actress played by Chloë Grace Moretz (Carrie).

Filming for both movies begins this summer. Stewart was supposed to start working on the film Focus alongside Ben Affleck (Argo), but he has left the project to pursue other directorial endeavors. Stewart left as well.

Stewart is also attached to the sequel of Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman. However, the film does not have a director at the moment, since Rupert Sanders left, when he and Kristen became involved in an extra marital affair.

The actress, who has been acting since she was very young, seems to be happy taking her time and working for non-franchise movies at the moment.

Recently, she has been in the news for her relationship problems. It will be good to hear how Kristen Stewart’s next projects move along.
