Obama Speech Heckler Called ‘Rude’ And ‘Crazy’ By CNN’s Carol Costello [Video]

A national security speech from President Obama was repeatedly interrupted this week by a Code Pink activist named Medea Benjamin. Confronted for her actions on CNN, Benjamin was labeled “rude” and “crazy” by anchor Carol Costello.

Things were uncomfortable from the start when Benjamin appeared on Costello’s show Friday morning. Benjamin objected to being called a “heckler” right away, despite derailing Obama’s speech no less than three times and engaging the POTUS in a tense dialogue in the midst of his speech.

“I actually had an invitation to get in and I felt compelled to speak out,” the Code Pink activist said.

“You clearly interrupted the president, though,” Costello shot back. “That would be heckling.”

“I don’t call it heckling,” Benjamin countered. “I call it speaking out because the president is not implementing policies that we need to see changed.”

Costello rebutted that Obama was talking about the very things that Benjamin was protesting for, but Benjamin disagreed.

The CNN anchor then pointed to Facebook followers of hers, telling Benjamin that the considered her interruptions to be “rude to the president of the United States,” and “a little crazy.”

“I think killing innocent people with drones is rude,” Benjamin replied.

“I think keeping innocent people in detention for 11 years is rude. I think not respecting the lives of Muslim people who are killed is rude. There are a lot of rude things about our policies. Speaking out is actually not rude.”

You can watch the exchange below, and let us know what you think. Was Medea Benjamin rude to President Obama, or do more of us need to make some noise about these controversial issues? Sound off!
