Jose Mourinho Hints At Real Madrid Departure

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has given his biggest indication yet that he might leave the Spanish giants in the summer.

After Real Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday evening, which still saw them exit the European Cup, Mourinho gave an interview that hinted he is looking to leave the Spanish capital.

After the match, Mourinho stated, “I know in England I am loved, I know I am loved by some clubs especially one.”

The team in question is Chelsea, where Mourinho managed between 2004 and 2007, before his acrimonious departure was confirmed after he fell out with the club’s owner, Roman Abramovich.

He is regarded as Chelsea’s most successful ever manager, having amassed two Premier League titles and three domestic cups successes too.

Mourinho then added, “I am loved by the fans and the media who treat me in a fair way. I know in Spain it is different because many people hate me.”

However, despite these words, Mourinho revealed that he won’t make a decision on his future until the end of the season. “I didn’t make a decision because I have a contract and the respect I have for the club and the president. At the end of the season I want to sit down with the president and speak about it.”

Real Madrid fans have been unhappy with some of Mourinho’s decisions this season and the side’s form has been very patchy too. The Portugese manager has fallen out with the club captain, Iker Casillas, and the team’s star defender, Sergio Ramos, too.

They also sit 11 points behind their fierce rivals Barcelona in the standings, and there are only five games left to haul back this advantage.

Their only realistic chance of silverware comes in the Spanish Cup, where they play Atletico Madrid in May.
