‘Xcom’ Relaunch Unveiling Possibly Coming Friday

Xcom‘s relaunch has been a bit of a mystery over the last few weeks. Ever since 2K pulled down the official site and all of its videos, there were people wondering whether the franchise was going away completely or just getting a facelift.

Over the last few days, there has been more evidence mounting that a facelift was the direction the company was going. Rumors swirled that the new game was either going to be called The Bureau or What Happened in ’62.

Over the last few days, teaser videos have popped up online that appear even more evidence that the first-person shooter game is going to be announced soon and that it will center around some sort of mystery from the past.

Xcom‘s newest title had its first trailer that was rather short but seemed to take ownership of the video of the Russian comet from a few months ago. The video claims that the comet was actually something else and that the government had been covering up.

An unknown man in the video says that they “did it better” in his day. The second video is why people think the unveiling will be coming on April 26 (this Friday.) The video was posted on YouTube with the title “What happened in 62.”

This teaser is an 18 second video that simply shows a young boy riding a bicycle, and then it shows the bike laying on its side and the boy looking up into the sky. At the 16 second mark of this video there is a brief tidbit that shows 2K and April 26.

It seems that more and more video game companies are going with these little teaser trailers to build up interest in their games only to give a full and final reveal just a few days after the first hints go online.

2K certainly seems to be going that route with the new Xcom reimagining, but we’ll apparently know for sure when Friday rolls around.
