Fox News Reporter Deftly Dodges Bostonian Kiss-Bombers [Video]

Live news reporters are often subjected to all manner of random, unpredictable video-bombs, but Fox News’ Mike Tobin handled his like a champ.

During Fox Report with Shepard Smith Monday night, Shep tossed the ball to Tobin’ live report in Boston, regarding new details that had emerged in the bombing investigation. Tobin got through most of his report with a straight face, but was unexpectedly pinned by two Bostonian females who looked like they were going in for a pair of kisses on either cheek.

Tobin, not breaking eye contact with the camera, calmly pushed the pair away and said “Please don’t do that,” before calmly tossing it back to Shep, who didn’t make any reference to it. It was like it never happened.

In other Fox-related news, the oft-criticized cable channel led among its peers in the Boston manhunt capture Friday, with over half a million more viewers than usual.

In the 7pm ET hour, Fox was number one among cable news networks with 5.7 million viewers, compared to CNN‘s 5.2 million. CNN did beat Fox the key 25-54 demographic, with 2.3 million to 1.6 million.

MSNBC clocked in dead-last with 1.4 million watching and 460,000 in the key demo.

The good news for CNN is that despite reporting flubs, they enjoyed their best viewership for a non-political event since 2003. That has to make newly-minted boss Jeff Zucker pretty happy.

Fox News had its highest viewership in both total day and primetime since 2003 as well.
