Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Liked ‘Breaking Bad,’ ‘Game Of Thrones’

As authorities dig into the pasts of Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, new details are being released regularly into the media. A new report suggests that Dzhokhar was a fan of the TV programs Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones, and that he may have taken cues from the former when it comes to the disposal of dead bodies.

Tamerlan was killed in a firefight with police last Thursday/early Friday, and Dzhokhar was taken, alive, into custody on Friday night. He was admitted to a local hospital under armed guard in serious condition, and was unconscious throughout the weekend.

He awoke on Sunday, and was able to answer questions posed by authorities through writing. An injury to his throat has apparently rendered him unable to speak.

While authorities wait for definitive answers from Dzhokhar regarding the Boston Marathon bombing which killed three people and left more than 170 injured, they have been investigating his past looking for anything that might shed light on what drove him to committing an act of terror.

TMZ reports that one of the details surrounding 19-year-old Dzhokhar regards his interest in violent television programs. Particularly, Dzhokhar was a fan of the critically-acclaimed AMC show Breaking Bad, a violent crime drama about a drug dealing high school teacher and his young accomplice.

He was also apparently a fan of the HBO program Game of Thrones, an epic fantasy series adapted from George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series of novels.

Dzhokhar’s fascination with Breaking Bad was noted by authorities who found a tweet from him earlier this year which read: “Breaking Bad taught me how to dispose of a corpse.”

Dzhokhar’s Twitter account has grown to roughly 10,000 followers since his involvement in the Boston bombing case was revealed by law enforcement authorities.
