Boston Suspects’ Aunt Gets Into Heated Exchange With Blaze Reporter Over ‘Setup’ [Listen]

Aside from Uncle Ruslan, most family members of Boston bombing suspects Tamerlan Tsarnaev and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev believe that the two brothers are innocent, and the subjects of a massive conspiracy or “setup.” Blaze reporter Buck Sexton invited Maret Tsarnaev, the aunt of the two suspects, onto his show to debate that theory, with the conversation turning sour pretty quickly.

Sexton worked with the Central Intelligence Agency and the New York Police Department’s counter-terrorism intelligence unit before his journalism career, and has extensively covered the Boston bombing story all week. For his part, he believes the narrative: That the two suspects are guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt due to the overwhelming evidence supporting the idea that they organized and carried out an act of terror at the Boston Marathon.

Maret believes the opposite: That the two boys were framed, and are completely innocent. Sexton invited her onto his program to defend her perspective, but the conversation didn’t exactly go well.

“I have to ask you… You have doubts about the guilt of your two nephews, is that what you’re telling me now?” asked Sexton.

“It’s not even doubts. I strongly believe these boys are innocent,” Maret responded.

Immediately, Sexton went on the offensive.

“Why would you ever believe that, Ms. Tsarnaev? Why would you ever believe that? You don’t believe the photos? Why were they in a gunfight with law enforcement agents? Why was one of them found with an IED on his body?…. I worked for NYPD Intelligence, I know the guys who were out there doing this, they’re not liars, they’re brave Americans. Why would they make any of this up?”

Maret balked. “If that happened, why don’t we have any materials that can be shown to people?”

“We have tons of material! We have photos, we have eyewitnesses!” Sexton quickly rebuffed.

“Where are they? All I hear on the public TV is, you know, ‘these officials said this. Those officials said that,’ ” Maret exclaimed.

From there, Sexton went on a rant as Maret interrupted him repeatedly.

“We have surveillance footage! We have the dead body of one of your nephews who was in a shootout with police. He had an IED strapped to his chest. Ms. Tsarnaev, they are accused of killing an 8-year-old boy. You have got to be kidding me! An 8-year-old boy! A foreign exchange student! Another young woman! 180 people! You know what? You’ve made — your case is nonsense. I can’t take it. They are going to face the full weight of justice. You called in, you had your say, we know what’s happening now.”

Sexton ended with the stinger:

“I’m sorry but I can’t take it anymore. Two terrorists: one down, one to go.”

What do you think? Was Sexton too hard on Maret Tsarnaev, or should she accept the narrative? You can listen to the exchange below via The Blaze and Mediaite:
