Anne Hathaway’s Pixie Cut Considered ‘Most Influential’

Anne Hathaway’s pixie cut is considered to be the most influential haircut in history.

In a recent poll conducted by the Hairdressing Council of Great Britain and Universal Pictures, a thousand women were asked to vote on which celebrity haircut had the most impact on-screen. After the votes were tabulated, the Les Miserables co-star emerged victorious.

Anne Hathaway’s pixie cut was the end result of her decision to lop off her locks to portray Fantine in the big-screen adaptation of the acclaimed musical. The actress’ closely-cropped cut has apparently influenced quite a few women to do the same with their own hair.

Hathaway managed to beat out Jennifer Aniston’s ‘do in Along Came Polly (second place) and Audrey Hepburn’s classic look in Charade (third place). Although Michelle Williams and a handful of other actress have pulled off a short haircut, it would seem Hathaway’s pixie cut has struck a chord with women.

Veronica Lake’s long hair in The Blue Dahlia came in fourth place, while voters helped Molly Ringwald’s The Breakfast Club bob land in fifth. The poll also revealed that one in ten women decided to chair their hairstyle while watching a movie at home.

Celebrity hairstylist Charles Worthington explained that film can often have that affect on folks. In addition to inspiring them to change who they are, the medium can also prompt people to make changes to their physical appearance.

He added, “The versatility of Jennifer Aniston’s cut ensures it appeals to so many people while there really is nothing like an up do for that Hollywood glamour as sported by Hepburn.”

Anne Hathaway is currently gearing up to star in director Lynn Shelton and writer Andrea Seigel’s Laggies. The drama will also feature Sam Rockwell and Kick-Ass alum Chloe Grace Moretz.
