Sixty-two hair bands and 8 pairs of underwear was found inside a dog’s stomach. A Pennsylvania vet was shocked to discover a stash of hair bands and underwear inside a Labrador Retriever while conducting a scan of the animal that was going into surgery, Time reports.

Tiki wasn’t feeling too well before going to the vet. It was soon discovered why the canine was feeling so terrible. Who would, with a mass of household products in his or her digestive system? According to the report, there was a week’s worth of products inside the dog.

Dr. Hisham Ibrahim was about to perform exploratory surgery on Tiki when 62 hair bands and 8 pairs of underwear were found inside the dog.

“And I found this hair band attached to another hair band to another one to another one and to other things again,” Ibrahim told Pittsburgh Action News 4.

Four rubber bands and a band aid were also in the dog’s stomach.

Action 4 News adds in its in-depth report that Tiki hadn’t responded to medications for vomiting, diarrhea, and her lack of appetite. X-rays showed a huge mass of something in her stomach that soon solved the mystery.

Ibrahim performed nearly two hours of exploratory surgery, according to the report. The last thing that he expected to see was 62 hair bands, 8 pairs of underwear, a band aid, and four rubber bands!

“And I found this hair band attached to another hair band to another one to another one and to other things again,” Ibrahim says.

Ibrahim shares it wasn’t easy removing all of the household products from the animal, but it got done and now Tiki is recovering well. Her owner, Sara Weiss, shares that this isn’t the only incident in which her dog has swallowed something that she shouldn’t have — she said a nerf dart was consumed by the dog at one point, but it passed through her system without any problems.

Ibrahim said he recently surgically removed 15 pacifiers from another dog’s stomach, but Tiki’s case was “amazing.” It’s shocking that the canine survived the experience, considering the enormity what her digestive system had to withstand.

It’s believed that the 62 hair bands and 8 pairs of underwear were eaten over the course of a few days, the report says.
