Where does Michael Vick fit best?

There are several reasons why Michael Vick will not be a Philadelphia Eagle in 2010. The most important of which is he wants to be a starting QB, and that is not something that is going to happen with the Eagles. The other reasons are he is due to make 5.25 million dollars in 2010, and is due a roster bonus of 1.5 million on March 5th. For all those reasons it seems Vick will end up on a different team, but where does he fit best?

The best fit right now seems to be with the St. Louis Rams. Think about it, soon they will have new owners, the need a QB, there is not a QB worthy of the number one overall pick in this April’s NFL draft, and Vick would generate some fan interest that a 1-15 team desperately needs. On top of that playing with Steven Jackson would take a lot of pressure off Vick, he would not have to carry the entire offense on his back. Look how good Bret Favre looked playing with Adrian Peterson in the backfield.

The second best fit may be the Carolina Panthers, Jake Delhomme imploded last year, and while Matt Moore played well, does anyone believe he is the guy to lead them to the playoffs. Adding Vick to a roster that features RB’s DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart could be a fit for a lot of the reasons mentioned above.

Lastly it seems that the Oakland Raiders need a viable option should Al Davis figure out what most of us already know that Jamarcus Russell is not a NFL starting QB. Having Vick on the roster would give them a viable option should Russell continue to struggle. While Brad Gradkowski was the best Raiders QB in 2009, he is a restricted free agent.
