Are Jay-Z And Beyonce About To Buy A $3 Million Island In The Bahamas?

Jay-Z and Beyonce Knowles are reportedly about to buy an island in the Bahamas for around $3 million.

The hip-hop mogul is rumored to be looking at a property in the North Abaco area of the region, and they want to use it as a place to vacation alongside their daughter, Blue Ivy.

A source told The Sun, “Jay’s been looking for a private island for the family. He wants to turn it into his own Necker Island like Richard Branson.”

The insider then added, “He’s getting it partly to mark their fifth wedding anniversary but also, with Bey back in the spotlight, it’s getting impossible for them to do normal things such as go to the beach with Blue. A private island means they’ll be able to have quality time with minimum staff and security.”

Necker Island is Sir Richard Branson’s own 74 acre island in the British Virgin Islands and it can operate as its own resort and can accomodate up to 28 guests.

Other celebrities to have bought private islands for themselves include Mel Gibson who bought Mago Island in Fiji in 2005, Johnny Depp who owns a Caribbean residence, and Eddie Murphy and Celine Dion who own homes in the Bahamas and Quebec respectively.

Jay-Z has recently acquired more money after he decided to sell his shares of the basketball team he helped to rebrand over the last few years, the Brooklyn Nets. This needed to be done in order for the rapper to become an NBA agent.

Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski wrote of his decision, “Selling his share of the Nets is a necessary prelude for Jay-Z to obtain his National Basketball Players Association certification as an agent. NBA rules mandate that no one individual affiliated with a player representation company can have an ownership stake with an NBA team.”
