Tom Cruise fans were shocked last summer when they learned that Katie Holmes was filing for divorce. Well, apparently Cruise was pretty socked, too.
The Mission Impossible said in an interview with the German TV network ProSieben that he didn’t see the divorce coming.
Cruise said : “I did not expect that.”
Cruise and Holmes were married for five years and have a daughter, Suri , together. They announced their separation last June.
The actor, who will be turning 50 soon, said: “Life is a challenge … To be 50 and have experiences and think you have everything under control, and then it hits you — that’s what life is … Life is tragicomic. You need a certain sense of humor.”
Cruise, who recently confirmed that he’d be starring in another Mission Impossible movie , has been out promoting his new movie Oblivion. The sci-fi thriller is set for release later this month. The actor is also working on another sci-fi movie called All You Need Is Kill.
While Cruise is focusing on big budget pictures at the moment his ex-wife Katie Holmes has been working on Broadway. Holmes was starring in Dead Accounts. The play has already shut down, however, due to low ticket sales.
