Hunter Hayes Wants Crazy At ACM Awards

Hunter Hayes wasn’t presented with any awards at the 2013 American Country Music ceremony at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, but he still had a huge day. The tasty 21-year-old drummer from Breaux Bridge, Louisiana walked the red carpet in an eye-catching maroon suit with a black shirt.

Hayes debuted his new single, “I Want Crazy,” at ACM 2013, where he was also nominated for several awards, including Best New Male Vocalist of the Year. Brantley Gilbert ultimately took that prize.

Hunter Hayes seems to have a sort of “wanted” theme running through his work. In fact, his number one hit single was actually called, “Wanted.” That lucky song won both Single of the Year: New Artist and Music Video of the Year: New Artist at 2012’s American Country Awards. That double platinum recording was inspired, he said, because he was too shy to express his feelings to a special girl directly. He also said that the song didn’t work for that purpose, and that he and the girl are just friends.

Well, her loss is country music’s gain.

Last night, Hayes had the words “Let’s Be Crazy” scribbled on his guitar — as his Twitter followers already knew he would from a photo linked in a string of enthusiastic tweets leading up to the event.

He seemed excited — some observers said nervous — but who wouldn’t be when they got their big chance onstage with music legend Stevie Wonder?

The iconic Wonder had graciously commented before the ACM ceremony that he always knew that he’d make it over to country music one day:

He got Taylor Swift on her feet:

Hunter Hayes and his team seem to be just as enthusiastic as Swift and his other fans:

I might not want any crazy, but I think I like country heartthrob Hunter Hayes.
