6-Year-Old Drummer Rocks Internet With Van Halen Cover [Video]

A 6-year-old drummer has taken the internet by storm with a rocking cover of Van Halen‘s “Hot for Teacher.”

Avery Molek has been taking drum lessons since he was just four and already has 15 shows under his belt. As I write these words, the 6-year-old drummer has notched up an impressive 620,000 viewers on his Van Halen tribute.

The viral video of Avery’s beat-perfect rendition was first highlighted by the chaps at Van Halen News Desk, but Van Halen isn’t the only act Avery emulates.

Amongst his other 70 YouTube uploads are covers of songs by Kiss, Motley Crue, and Ozzy Osbourne. His official Facebook page reveals: “Avery applies his lessons when learning songs by ear and implementing his own feel, style and fills for the song.”

The youngster is also a prolific live performer, having already drummed for “four different live bands spanning four states.”

He’s also played at an impressive list of festivals, including Sturgis, and what he called his “Out of the Basement Tour” in 2012. He told VHND:

“Yes, I said ‘Tour’! I am only six! So anything more then one gig is a Tour!”

You rock, kid. If One Direction punchbags Van Halen ever find themselves a drummer down, there’s a solution right here:
