David Beckham Unveils Tattoo, Takes A Spill In China [Video]

David Beckham revealed his new tattoo during a five-day stint in China as the country’s first international soccer ambassador.

The athlete’s latest bit of ink runs down the left side of his torso. The tattoo, which is written in Chinese characters, reads: “Life and death are determined by fate, rank and riches decreed by Heaven.”

Students at Peking University were among the first to get a good look at his latest addition.

The quote isn’t the only ink on David Beckham’s body. He also has a picture of his wife Victoria Beckham on his left forearm. The former Spice Girl is depicted as an angel.

“They are both thrilled with the result. It has been beautifully done. Victoria is flattered,” an insider explained.

Unfortunately for David Beckham, his time in China wasn’t entirely glamorous. He reportedly took a spill during a free kick demonstration for the Zall Football Club in Wuhan, China on Friday. Video of Beckham’s slip and fall has been embedded below.

Although the kick may not have gone as planned, David Beckham didn’t seem to mind too much. He is reportedly very excited about his role as international soccer ambassador to China.

“I’m excited by the prospect of promoting the world’s greatest game to Chinese sports fans, as I’ve seen firsthand the growing interest in football there,” Beckham recently explained.

He added, “This is a wonderful sport that inspires people across the world and brings families together, so I’m relishing the opportunity of introducing more fans to the game.”

In addition to helping China fix its image after FIFA banned 58 Chinese soccer officials, Beckham’s role is to help kids get interested in the game.

A statement released by the athlete’s rep stated that he will bring “credibility as one of the most admired sportsmen and iconic figures in the world.”
