‘Dust: An Elysian Tail’ Coming To Steam [Video]

Dust: An Elysian Tail is coming to Steam. That was the announcement that was made this weekend at PAX East by game designers Alex Kain and Dean Dodrill.

The game, which was released on XBLA in 2012 has a sort of cult following among video gamers and that alone should help its launch onto Steam be a successful one. The game allows you to follow the character named Dust as you go on an adventure of “self discovery.”

Dust: An Elysian Tail was drawn by Dodrill, who had only a background as an animator when he began work on this particular title and that background shows up in the way the characters are rendered for the game. Dodrill said that he hopes that the game will be ready to be released by April but that the company does not have a firm release date just yet.

PAX East has become quite the information hub when it comes to learning about old games finding new platforms, or relatively newer games expanding their base. It also seems that if there is one clear winner from this year’s PAX convention it would be Steam who was the beneficiary of quite a few announcement about games launching on that platform.

The game developers also talked about the fact that Dust 2 could already be in the works and it stands to reason that the indie developers might decide to release their sequel on more platforms right out of gate.

Along with the announcement about the move to steam, Dodrill and Kain put out a new announcement trailer. This trailer shows the wonderful artwork that goes along with an immersive story. The trailer also manages to show just how many people have enjoyed the game since its release in August of last year.
