Roland Martin, CNN Contributor, Tweets He’s Out At Network

Roland Martin, CNN analyst and media personality, is out at the network — confirmed by Martin himself on Twitter yesterday.

Roland Martin is CNN’s latest contributor or analyst to exit the network after Jeff Zucker was brought in last year to turn around the network’s flagging fortunes. In addition to Martin, James Carville, Mary Matalin and Bill Bennett have also been excised from CNN’s rotation.

Martin’s tenure at CNN has not been without controversy, and he was subject to a one-month suspension after last year’s Super Bowl.

During his commentary as the event was underway, the CNN analyst sent a tweet many found offensive and possibly homophobic, invoking ire from gay rights groups like GLAAD. He said:

“If a dude at your Super Bowl party is hyped about David Beckham’s H&M underwear ad smack the ish out of him!”

Martin has been open about his CNN departure on Twitter, where he has engaged with fans and followers about the reasons behind his split from the network.

It’s not entirely clear what prompted the initial tweet sent by Roland Martin to what appears to be a random follower about leaving CNN, but yesterday morning, Martin sent the following tweet saying:

He later followed up:

When asked about his CNN departure, Roland Martin replied:

Martin will continue in his other ventures after he leaves CNN next month.
