‘Evil Dead’ Sequel Actually Named ‘Army Of Darkness 2’

The Evil Dead sequel has actually been titled Army of Darkness 2.

The film previously known as Evil Dead 4 will continue the story of Ash Williams, as a follow-up to the last three Sam Raimi films. In much the same way Army of Darkness followed Evil Dead 2, the next film, Army of Darkness 2, will pick up where its predecessor left off.

In Evil Dead, Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell) and a few of his friends visited a cabin in the woods after negotiating a worn-down bridge, and after discovering and accidentally inciting the words in the Necronomicon, an ancient evil awoke in the woods and the cabin. The evil entity began possessing the cabin-mates … you know the rest.

While promoting his film Oz the Great and Powerful, Sam Raimi said he would start writing the next film with his brother Ivan Raimi. The two co-wrote the previous three films as well.

The 2013 remake by director Fede Alvarez was met with positive response as producers Bruce Campbell and Robert G. Tapert participated in a Q&A session. It was Robert who confirmed the actual title of the new Evil Dead film, “That would be Army of Darkness 2. Everybody calls it Evil Dead 4, but Army Of Darkness wasn’t called Evil Dead anywhere except by the fans.”

Bruce Campbell hinted that he might come back in his notorious role as Ash Williams:

“Sam threatens this every six months. I’ve heard this a thousand times, because in the back of his mind, he never wants to let go, because he loved making these movies. We all loved making them together. They were a nightmare to make, very difficult, but they lasted the test of time, so he’s not going to let that go, and I’m never going to say ‘no.’ It’ll be me and a walker fighting some other old guy. But that’s what he does and who knows? It may happen.”

So Army of Darkness 2 might see Bruce Campbell once again dealing with the results of messing with the Necronomicon?

What do you think about the next Evil Dead film, Army of Darkness 2?
