Rick Springfield has been arrested for missing his recent court date.
The singer was scheduled to appear in court for his DUI case a few weeks ago. When he failed to show, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department paid a visit to his home.
Although Rick Springfield was arrested for missing his scheduled court date, his attorney managed to get the warrant called off while the singer was being booked. He was ultimately released.
Before he left the station, Springfield decided to update his Facebook page to let everyone know what was happening.
“I didn’t know that I was supposed appear in court a few weeks ago. It was to do with the old DUI charge and it’s been cleared up and I am free to go,” he wrote.
Rick Springfield’s court appearance was due to a DUI conviction from back in 2011. When the singer failed to appear in court, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.
The singer has agreed to pay $1,555 in fines as a result of missing his court date.
Rick Springfield was arrested in 2011 after police pulled the singer over in Malibu. When they determined that he had a little too much to drink, officers decided to take him into custody.
Instead of going quietly, Springfield reportedly became hostile towards authorities. At one point during their exchange, the singer told the deputy he planned to kill him and his entire family.
In order to stay out of jail for the DUI, Rick Springfield reached an agreement which found him pleading no contest to the charges against him. In addition to completing a two-month traffic program, the singer was placed on probation for three years.
Australian musician Rick Springfield is best known to music fans for his 80s radio staple “Jessie’s Girl.” In addition to recording several albums, Springfield has appeared in a handful of movies and television shows.
The singer is currently slated to reprise his role as Dr. Noah Drake on the soap opera General Hospital in April.
