Lana Del Rey Discusses Her ‘Spiritual’ Second Album

Lana Del Rey has been discussing her forthcoming second album, announcing that it will be a much more “spiritual” record than 2012’s Born To Die.

Del Rey, who recently relocated to the United Kingdom, has been writing and working on songs for her new record in Santa Monica and she now knows exactly what she wants it to sound like.

Speaking to BBC Radio 1, Del Rey stated, “It’s a little more stripped down but really cinematic and dark. I’ve been working on it really slowly but I love everything I’ve done. I’ve been writing in Santa Monica and I know what the record sounds like. Musically, I’ve worked with the same three guys. Now I just have to finish it.”

She also revealed that her songwriting has developed and that she is now in a “more spiritual place lyrically,” and also explained that she already has ideas for her music videos saying, “For some reason the videos are still the easiest things that come.”

Del Rey also started rumours that she has been working on the soundtrack for the forthcoming movie, The Great Gatsby, by posting the film’s logo onto her Facebook page, before then taking it then.

Last summer, Del Rey confirmed that she had been working on the soundtrack for several movies, noting, “I’ve been helping compose scores for movies.”

The singer also added, “So, like, there’s a movie coming out in the summer that’s set in the 1920s and it’s been fun for me to write love songs for a woman who is the star.”
