Lennon And Maisy Celebrate Johnny Cash With ‘Ring Of Fire’ Cover
YouTube singing stars Lennon and Maisy Stella celebrated what would have been Johnny Cash’s 81st birthday yesterday with a performance of “Ring of Fire” recorded in the balcony of Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.

Overnight fame is nearly always a myth but, for the Stella sisters, that is exactly what happened.
They started attracting fans last summer after releasing their cover of Robyn’s “Call Your Girlfriend” on YouTube. The video features Lennon and Maisy sitting at a table singing A Capella and using empty plastic margarine containers to create a beat.
Their mother, MaryLynne who is a Canadian country music singer, uploaded the video at 2 am, May 29, 2012. When she woke up the next morning the video had 304 views.
Daily Dot explains YouTube has an annoying feature that freezes view count low 30os when a video goes viral so the video site can verify that views are real and not caused by bots.
Lennon and Maisy’s first video had in fact gone viral. It just wasn’t immediately evident. The next day they were on a plane to New York to perform the song on Good Morning America, and they were recognized on the plane.
Nine months later the Stella sisters have had nearly 30 million views on their YouTube channel, and they play the daughters of fictional country singer Raina Jaymes (Connie Britton) on the musical drama Nashville.
In an interview with Vulture, Lennon and Maisy explain how they work out their tight harmonies:
“Maisy: ‘With the harmonies, I’ve kind of heard them in my head. Since I started singing, when Lennon sings a note, I hear the harmony.’
Lennon: ‘It really just comes naturally to her. But as far as arrangements go, my mom is probably the one who helps a lot. My dad helps me with learning the new chords. So it’s kind of just a family process.'”
