Reeva Steenkamp, girlfriend of Olympic hero Oliver Pistorius , was shot dead in his home last night by her partner in an incident still under investigation — and as police and loved ones try to make sense of the killing, the South African FHM model is being remembered as a multi-talented and promising young woman.
Reeva Steenkamp’s publicist confirmed that the blonde beauty had been killed in the early morning hours of Valentine’s Day. Sarit Tomlinson told Fox News that while Steenkamp’s sudden passing was a massive shock, little is known about the circumstances leading up to the incident:
“At the moment we can confirm that Reeva passed away … We are all in shock. We are devastated. We didn’t see this coming. No one saw this coming.”
Describing Reeva Steenkamp’s rep as becoming “flustered,” Fox says Tomlinson as reluctant to discuss the circumstances of the model’s death — including whether Pistorius’ and Steenkamp had a history of domestic issues:
“We don’t know what’s going on right now … We’re waiting for more information… I think by the end of the day we’ll be hearing some concrete information.”
Yahoo quotes Tomlinson as she describes Reeva Steenkamp, saying:
“The freckled blonde who appeared in scanty bikinis on magazine covers and sashayed down the world’s fashion ramps was ‘continuously breaking the model stereotype,’ said Tomlinson … Steenkamp was ‘the sweetest, kindest, just angelic soul’ and at the same time ‘a very inspiring individual, very passionate about speaking about women and empowerment.’ “
The day before her death, Steenkamp tweeted back and forth with friends and followers, re-tweeting the following message:
“WEAR BLACK THIS FRIDAY IN SUPPORT AGAINST # RAPE AND WOMAN ABUSE # BLACKFRIDAY “
Pistorius is due in court in Pretoria on Friday in relation to Steenkamp’s shooting death.
