Harry Styles, onetime reported love of “ I never chase boys ” singer Taylor Swift, was widely reported to have been the target of Swift’s brief, mocking adoption of a British accent before launching into a performance of her hit We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together .
Whether Harry Styles — who is British and a member of One Direction — was the target of Swift’s reference is not entirely clear, but seems likely. Often these he said, she said things play out in dueling interviews, where celeb exes try to continually one up each other with either refusing to rise to the bait or making veiled references — but if showbiz spies are to be believed, Styles plans to ignore the reference and indeed, the pair are never ever getting back together.
RadarOnline quotes a Harry Styles and bandmates pal, who claims not only was the Brit boy band sensation not bothered by the minor gossip blip, but the 1D boys are glad to see the back of Swift and her publicity hounding ways . The site reports that the insider said:
“The lads have told Harry to forget about retaliating, because it’s just not worth it … They’ve all advised him to be the bigger person and not to wash his dirty laundry in public – it’s just tacky and embarrassing … With the media circus that surrounded Harry and Taylor when they were together, the boys were a little miffed that it distracted fans from the band and what they were all about.”
The blabbermouth continues:
“Of course, when it didn’t work out, there was a sense of relief because they knew that, along with Harry, they could all move on …”
“It’s only Taylor now that seems to clinging on to their failed relationship, and Harry has been told to keep his thoughts private.”
Harry Styles has not commented on the Swift dis from Sunday night’s Grammys.
