Coroner’s Suicide Finding Questioned: Man Found In Lake With Gunshot And Hands Tied

A Coroner’s suicide finding has been questioned in the case of a man found in a lake with a gunshot and his hands tied. Glynn County, Georgia Commissioner Tom Sublett’s body was discovered on December 11.

Sublett’s death has been under investigation since last December. Friends, colleagues and family collected $70,000 as an award for any information about his death. Sublett’s body was found near a dock at the bottom of a lake. He had a gunshot wound to his head and his hands were tied together in front. Although a handgun was found in his car, no weapon was found near the dock or in the lake.

As reported by Daily Mail, Sublett was last seen on December 10 after a poker game with friends. Sublett took one of the friends home and was not seen again. Authorities received a call from Sublett’s wife reporting that he never returned home. They eventually located his vehicle, and four hours later recovered his body.

Officials initially began the investigation as a homicide but had not ruled out the possibility that that Sublett had committed suicide.

On February 1, the medical examiner entered the suicide finding. Sublett’s family is questioning the decision as they find it difficult to believe that a man found in a lake with a gunshot and his hands tied could have committed suicide. As reported by AJC, Sublett did not display any signs of depression or suicidal thoughts. Friends and family are not aware that he had any enemies that would may have caused him harm.

According to authorities they recovered an empty holster with unused bullets, zip ties, empty prescription bottles, and Sublett’s wallet with the contents intact. They reportedly found evidence of blood on the car and dock.

Rumors and speculation have only added to the mystery of this bizarre case. An attorney speaking on behalf of the Sublett family has expressed that they “strongly disagree” with the coroner’s suicide finding. They find it difficult to believe that a man committing suicide would end up at the bottom of a lake with a gunshot would and his hands tied.
