Slim-Fast Recalled due to bacterial contamination

NJ-based Slim Fast is recalling all ready to drink shakes due to fears of bacterial contamination that could case nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

Unilever USA in Englewood Cliffs, NJ initiated the recall after finding the micro-organism Bacillus cereus during quality assurance testing. The company said that although contamination does not pose serious health risks, the symptoms described above could occur, prompting the recall.

The recall encompasses all ready to drink cans of Slim Fast, regardless of flavor. The cause of the bacterial contamination is currently unknown and production is suspended pending investigation. Customers are being asked to discard all unused product and call (800) 896-9479 for a full refund.
