Police hunt “resentful” man who killed 4 relatives at Thanksgiving dinner


Police near Jupiter, Florida are seeking a man accused of gunning down four relatives at a family Thanksgiving gathering yesterday, including a six year old girl. Paul Michael Merhige, 35, is believed to be armed and dangerous after the shooting deaths of four female relatives.

Makayla Sitton, 6, Carla and Lisa Merhige, 33, and Raymonde Joseph, 76,were killed in the rampage. Merhige’s brother-in-law, Patrick McKnight, was also injured, but survived. Police have cited “resentment” as a reason behind the shootings:

“We know the suspect had an ongoing resentment toward family members and at some point in the evening left the residence for a short period of time, then returned and started shooting without warning,” Police Sgt. Scott Pascarella told ABCNews.com.

Jim Sitton, Makayla’s father, says his daughter was shot in her bed as she slept. The suspect fled the scene, and police have released this identifying information in the hunt for Paul Merhige:

Suspect Paul Michael Merhige, 35, is believed to be driving a 4-door blue 2007 Toyota Camry with Florida license plate W42 7JT, according to Jupiter Police Sgt. Scott Pascarella. Merhige’s last known address is 10301 SW 88th Avenue, Miami.
