Adele To Perform ‘Skyfall’ Live At The Oscars

Adele will be performing “Skyfall,” the official theme song for the newest James Bond film of the same name, at the 85th Academy Awards on February 24.

In a statement, the Grammy award winner and mother of one, said:

“It’s an honor to be nominated and terrifyingly wonderful to be singing in front of people who have captured my imagination over and over again. It’s something I’ve never experienced and probably only ever will once.”

“Skyfall” is nominated for Best Original Song at this year’s Oscars. It is up against “Pi’s Lullaby” from Life of Pi, “Suddenly” from Les Miserables, “Before My Time” from Chasing Ice, and “Everybody Needs a Best Friend” from Ted.

“Skyfall” recently won Best Original Song at the 70th annual Golden Globe Awards.

According to Mashable, the 2012 Oscars did not have performances in the Best Original Song category. However, the producers of the 2013 Oscars, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, wanted Adele to perform at this year’s event.

“We have enormous respect for Adele’s unique artistry as a songwriter and a singer,” Zadan and Meron said in a statement. “She is currently one of the most successful recording artists in the world, and we believe that her performance of ‘Skyfall’ will be an exciting Oscar moment for audiences watching at the Dolby Theatre and on television screens around the world.”

In other Adele news, the name of the singer’s son may have finally be revealed. The British chanteuse was spotted wearing a necklace inscribed with the name “Angelo.” Adele has said she is not ready to share her son’s name and has kept it private because it is “too personal intimate.”
