Anthony Bourdain Launches Twitter Rant Following American Airlines Flight

Judging from his tweets, world renowned chef and author Anthony Bourdain had a pretty rough time during his recent flight aboard American Airlines. Fortunately for everyone, the television star decided to share his experience on Twitter.

Bourdain launched into a fairly memorable Twitter rant as his experience aboard the airline went from bad to worse in the span of a few hours. According to ABC News, the chef’s problems began when he discovered his flight was delayed.

Although the gate agent declared that the flight was “on time,” it was painfully clear to Bourdain that something was seriously wrong. When the airline said that a “special situation” was holding things up, the author issued one of many amusing tweets. He wrote:

“What does “special situation” mean in airlines speak? Ain’t nothin’ special about late departure.

According to the New York Post, Anthony Bourdain decided to spend the down time inside the airport’s panini bar. It was there that he learned the real reason behind the delay: someone had experienced a bit of an accident in one of the plane’s seats.

This prompted the cook to issue the comment:

“Latest news is it took #AA two hours to admit a passenger dropped a wet deuce on a seat. Need to change planes.

Friends and co-workers quickly exchanged quips with the chef on Twitter, during which Bourdain said he was considering “paying it forward. Especially after that airport panini.”

Sensing an opportunity for a little unconventional PR, Virgin Atlantic USA commented on one of the chef’s many tweets. The company said:

We feel your pain @Bourdain. The combo of a dropped deuce & AA service gives flying a bad name. Come w/ us next time!”

When ABC News asked American Airlines about the delay that caused Anthony Bourdain’s Twitter rant, the company said “the flight in question was delayed approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience.”
