Taco Bell Speedo: Teen Facebook Fan Gets His Wish

A teenage fan of Taco Bell is getting his wish granted after the food chain responded to his cheeky Facebook request for a custom made Speedo.

The Illinois high school swimmer will soon be sporting his new article of clothing at swim practice. The Speedo will even include the phrase “Think Outside The Buns” across the backside – a play on a popular Taco Bell slogan.

An article by Business Insider writes that the amusing request was written to Taco Bell via a posting to its Facebook page. Fifteen-year-old Ryan Klarner voiced his wish for the customized Speedo shortly before Christmas. His post on December 20 reads:

“hey taco bell, I am a swimmer/diver at William Fremd High school in Palatine, Il. I am a sophomore right now, but I broke my schools diving record for frosh/soph, have won multiple invites, and i have came in first at all of my school v school meets except for one in which i came in second. and where do i go after a long days workout? Taco bell of course, i eat at taco bell at least 5-7 times a week. So, what i am asking is this, is there any way you guys could make me a customized speedo that says think outside the buns on the back of it? If you did, that would mean the world to me. But other than that, keep up the delicious food, and the quick and quality service.”

In a time when most large corporations rarely give out personal responses to customers, Taco Bell actually reached out to Klarner. On January 2 the social media team at Taco Bell left the following Facebook response to the teen’s request:

“What size do you wear? And what’s your address?”

According to Today, the Taco Bell chain often uses Facebook to respond to customer feedback – both good and bad. The company is known to indulge the quirkiness of its over nine million followers on the social networking site.

Tressie Lieberman, director of digital and social engagement for Taco Bell, says that Ryan Klarner should receive his gift this week. She spoke of Taco Bell’s reason for fulfilling the teen’s wish:

“He really wanted something and he went after it. When we think people are really extraordinary… then we want to reward them.”
