‘Criminal Minds’ Actor Thomas Gibson Arrested On Suspicion Of DUI
Criminal Minds actor Thomas Gibson was arrested early Sunday on suspicion of driving under the influence in downtown Los Angeles.
The 50-year-old was arrested around 1:37 am at the intersection of 11th and Grand Avenue. Traffic officers took Gibson into custody after he allegedly drove through a barricade that had been set up for Los Angeles’ “New’s Year’s Race.” The race had already passed through that particular area, but the road was still blocked off, according to the Huffington Post. Gibson was told to go a different way, but he continued to drive through the blocked off section.
Police officers smelled alcohol on Gibson’s breath and arrested him. He had reportedly refused to take a breathalyzer.
Gibson was booked in Los Angeles Central Jail, and bail was set at $15,000. At the time of this writing, he was still in custody.
Gibson is best known for his role as Aaron Hotchner on Criminal Minds, Greg Montgomery on Dharma & Greg, and Daniel Nyland on Chicago Hope.
Gibson is the second actor to be arrested this week. As we previously reported, Josh Brolin was arrested New Year’s day for public intoxication. He had been arrested shortly before midnight on January 1, but paid his $250 bail and was released early in the morning the next day.
The Men in Black 3 actor has been arrested a few times before. In 2004, he was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery after a fight with his wife, actress Diane Lane. Four years later, he was arrested after a bar fight in Louisiana. The charges against Brolin were dropped in both cases.
Update: Thomas Gibson was release from jail at 1:27 pm PST.
