A gunman who reportedly took a high school principal hostage at Stissing Mountain middle and high school in upstate New York is said to have been taken into custody.
Reports from a local news source indicate that students are being released after the school was put on lockdown during the situation. By about 9:30, around 100 students from the school in Pine Plains had been evacuated. The situation in the middle school principal's office is said to be stable and the gunman is reportedly the parent of a middle school student.
Parents are being asked to convene at the Stissing Mountain House restaurant, on the corner of Route 82 and Route 199 near the school.
