Rex Ryan exposed for his “Rex-rated kinky inky” as the New York media referred to it.
The New York Jets head coach , currently on vacation in the Bahamas, has a tattoo on his right arm showing what appears to be his wife both wearing a Mark Sanchez Number 6 jersey and apparently also “Tebowing.” The image has quickly gone viral on social media.
Ryan kept the underperforming Sanchez as the starting quarterback virtually to the very end. But the image of his wife Tebowing — if that’s what it is — is odd considering that Ryan showed very little “faith” in his backup quarterback and hardly ever put Tim into the game.
According to the New York Daily News , whose photographer Andrew Theodorakis snapped the picture, Ryan is relaxing at the Cove Atlantis resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas after his team’s disappointing 6-10 season.
Daily News columnist Gary Myers commented on Ryan’s Sanchez tattoo:
“Rex Ryan’s loyalty to Mark Sanchez may not be set in stone, but it is etched in ink.
“From the category of ‘you just can’t make this stuff up,’ Ryan will carry Sanchez around with him for the rest of his life. It will be too painful to get rid of him, as much as that may pain Jets fans.”
ESPN noted, however, that “there was no indication whether the tattoos were permanent.” Ryan also has a shamrock tattoo with the names of his wife and children.
Rex Ryan and team owner Woody Johnson will hold a news conference on Tuesday to wrap up the season. Johnson has already announced that Ryan will return in 2013 as head coach. The team also is locked in to Sanchez on an $8.25 million guaranteed contract.
