Michael Phelps Splits With Girlfriend Megan Rossee [Report]

Olympic gold medal swimmer Michael Phelps is reportedly single again.

According to TMZ, Phelps, 27, broke up with his girlfriend, Megan Rossee, because he felt the relationship “was not going anywhere.”

Michael, the most decorated Olympian of all time, and Megan, a Los Angeles-based aspiring model and actress, debuted their romance over the summer during his record-breaking run at the 2012 Olympic games in London.

The pair had been dating for 10 months when Phelps decided to call it quits.

After news of the breakup went public, Rossee, who frequently used to broadcast her relationship with Phelps on Twitter, again took to the social networking site to post a quote from Sex And The City, saying:

“Some people are settling down…some are settling…and some people refuse to settle for anything less than butterflies.” #satc

She later hopped on Twitter again and wrote:

“Don’t compromise yourself. You’re all you’ve got. -Janis Joplin”

Rossee’s willingness to publish every detail of her relationship with Phelps had led some to speculate that she was only in it for the fame.

“Like any young girl hoping to make it in Hollywood, she’s ambitious and knows what by associating herself with Michael she will get a lot of press herself,” said a source to RadarOnline, adding, “She’s desperate for her own fame.”

Phelps, meanwhile, was spotted playing beer pong with Stacy Keibler and pals while getting ready for the New Year’s holiday in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Prior to his beach getaway, Michael seemingly acknowledged the split with Rossee in a cryptic message on Twitter which read:

“Things happen for a reason…”
