Is Blake Shelton Skipping The 2017 CMA Awards For Gwen Stefani After Serious Snub?

Blake Shelton may be turning his back on the 2017 CMA Awards on November 8 in favor of girlfriend Gwen Stefani following allegations that he was seriously snubbed by the Country Music Association after he failed to be awarded a single nomination at the show, dubbed country music’s biggest night, this year.

So far, Shelton hasn’t been confirmed to appear or perform at the big award show – despite dropping his latest album, Texoma Shore, last week – and fans are speculating that the country star may instead turn his back on the awards as they claimed the CMAs have done to him.

A number of fans noted that the award show actually falls on the same date that Gwen will be filming her upcoming Christmas special for NBC in Los Angeles, which sparked a whole lot of speculation that Blake will more than likely be accompanying his girlfriend to the California set rather than meeting up with his peers in Tennessee.

“Blake has a more important show than CMAs to attend on 8 Nov this year,” one fan tweeted of where Shelton will most likely be as the CMA Awards air live from Nashville this week.

“Blake is bigger [than] the CMA,” another fan then added on the social media site. “I guess the [CMA’s] are going to have low ratings this year to. No Blake I cannot watch.”

Social media users also noted that the official event information for Stefani’s Christmas special confirms that she’ll be inviting “several special guests” to perform with her onstage during the taping, which is set to begin in downtown Los Angeles around the same time as the CMA Awards go live in Nashville.

Notably, the couple collaborated on the title track from Gwen’s recent Christmas album, “You Make It Feel Like Christmas,” which suggests Blake could even join his girlfriend on the stage for a duet of their festive song during the broadcast, expected to air on NBC next month.

Blake and Gwen haven’t commented on the rumors of potentially snubbing the CMA Awards this year, though Taste of Country noted that Shelton’s fans were left livid earlier after he failed to get a single nomination at the country music award show earlier this year.

The latest snub marks the second year in a row that the star – who has nine wins and 16 nominations over his career – hasn’t been shown any love from the Country Music Association.

Last year, 2016, marked the first since 2010 that Shelton didn’t get at least one nomination at the CMA Awards, despite releasing music within the eligibility period, while he was also left out in the cold when it came to nominations at the 2017 ACM Awards.

At the time, some angry fans speculated that the singer’s divorce from Miranda Lambert and subsequent romance with Gwen may have had something to do with the star being snubbed, as a handful of social media users alleged that the country music community seemed to have taken sides in their split.

Notably, Miranda has continued to be nominated at the CMA Awards every year since she and Blake announced their divorce in 2015. This year, she heads into the ceremony with five nominations.

The 51st Annual CMA Awards, hosted by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley, will air live from Nashville on November 8 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
