Why Was Amber Portwood Nervous To Tell Her Family About Her Pregnancy?
Amber Portwood and Andrew Glennon are expecting their first child together just months into their romance, and not surprisingly, the Teen Mom OG star was a bit scared to reveal her baby news to her family.
Just weeks after Amber Portwood and Andrew Glennon made their public debut at the MTV Video Music Awards, the longtime reality star and mom of 8-year-old Leah Shirley broke the news of her pregnancy to her family, and now, she’s looking back on the stressful moment with her folks.
“I was nervous,” Amber Portwood admitted to Us Weekly magazine in their latest issue. “Obviously it’s non-traditional. Usually parents want you to be married first and things like that. But you know me, if I didn’t do things the way I did, I wouldn’t be me.”
Although Amber Portwood was concerned about her family would react to her decision to get pregnant so soon into her relationship with Andrew Glennon, the Teen Mom OG star told the magazine that they ended up being quite happy and excited for the new couple.
“Andrew just told his family as well and they’re very happy for us,” she added.
Since the start of their relationship, Amber Portwood and Andrew Glennon have been splitting their time between Portwood’s residence in Indiana and Glennon’s home in Malibu, California.

Amber Portwood and Andrew Glennon met on the set of Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars Family Edition, where Portwood and her former fiancé Matt Baier were attempting to salvage their relationship. Although Portwood’s efforts with Baier were unsuccessful, she and Glennon hit it off, and after filming wrapped, they began spending time with one another off-set.
Amber Portwood and Matt Baier dated for a few years before calling things off earlier this year while filming the sixth season of Teen Mom OG. As Teen Mom OG viewers will recall, Baier failed a lie detector test in regard to an alleged encounter with another woman, which understandably put a major strain on his and Portwood’s relationship.
