Ben Affleck Wants To Help Put A Stop To Sexual Harassment In Hollywood After Recent Scandals

Ben Affleck is currently doing the press tour for Justice League along with the rest of the cast of the upcoming DCEU team up, and although much of the tour revolves around the movie itself, the actor is also talking about the current problems within the entertainment industry. While speaking to the press about the movie, the actor also spoke about the recent scandals surrounding alleged sexual harassment and assault in Hollywood, as well as his own past bad behavior.

According to Page Six, in light of what happened with Harvey Weinstein, as well as having to apologize for having groped actress Hilarie Burton while filming Total Request Live for MTV in 2003, Ben Affleck has found himself reevaluating “his own behavior.” In fact, the actor said that having to apologize for his past, and seeing how many people have stepped forward to say that they have been harassed or assaulted, has led to him “looking at my own behavior and addressing that and making sure I’m part of the solution.”

Just last month Ben Affleck spoke out against Harvey Weinstein when the scandal surrounding the Hollywood producer first broke. However, it did not take long for the actor to be swamped with his own controversy as he first had to apologize for the Hilarie Burton groping incident, followed by social media pulling up another interview in which it was said that he harassed the female reporter after he pulled her onto his lap on camera. While the woman from the second interview addressed the incident and explained that things were not quite as they appeared, it did leave Ben Affleck in a position in which he had to defend himself and explain his own actions.

Now that the actor is doing the press tour for Justice League, he is once more addressing the situation and sharing how he thinks things can be changed in Hollywood moving forward. According to Ben Affleck, there are two things that need to happen in order to bring about change in the entertainment industry.

Affleck said he thinks that the first step in changing things is to have more of the women in the industry, and in life in general, “pushed to power.” The second thing that he believes needs to happen, is having men make it an important issue to them so that they are also calling out behavior that is inappropriate.

While Ben Affleck might be working on promoting the upcoming release of Justice League, he is also taking the time to evaluate his past behavior, and share his thoughts on how he and the industry as a whole can do better in the future.
