WWE Rumors: Another Former Champion Leaving TNA Impact Wrestling, Heading To WWE

While there have been a lot of rumors lately of WWE superstars being unhappy and wanting to leave the company, TNA Impact Wrestling is losing talent left and right. In the past month or so, Impact has lost at least six wrestlers but another is now gone as Rockstar Spud has received his official release from the company. Not only is the rather popular former TNA X Division Champion gone, but he may soon sign with WWE.

PW Insider reported that Rockstar Spud actually received his official release from Impact Wrestling two or three weeks ago. He’s been with the promotion since winning the first-ever TNA British Boot Camp back in 2013, and Spud had quite a successful run which included two runs with the X Division Title.

Word only got out about his release in the last couple of days, but it appears as if WWE is already on the prowl. According to Wrestling Inc., WWE is looking to sign Rockstar Spud and add him straight to the Cruiserweight Division which would be very fitting for the superstar who is only 5’4? and 145 pounds.

There has been no confirmed word on whether an official offer or contract has yet been issued to Spud.

Rockstar Spud has been tweeting out that he has dates available for independent bookings, but he may not have openings for long. Pro Wrestling Sheet has confirmed that WWE is seriously interested in bringing him in for either 205 Live or a possible United Kingdom show.

Impact Wrestling continues to have new wounds open as more and more wrestlers are leaving the company with each passing week. It was one thing to have a couple of big names depart or be granted their release, but the mass exodus is only getting worse.

In the past few weeks alone, Impact has lost the following.

  • Jeff Jarrett
  • Reno Scum
  • Taryn Terrell
  • Robbie E
  • Eddie Kingston
  • Rockstar Spud

Going back to the summer, TNA/GFW also lost Matt Morgan, Magnus, the Hardy Boyz, Drew Galloway/McIntyre, Angelina Love, and Davey Richards.

Over the course of the past year, Impact Wrestling has been a bit of a mess with the whole Global Force Wrestling takeover and then being pushed aside. With all those issues, many feuds have been throwaways or confusing, and that means the company didn’t know what to do with a lot of the talent. Now, Rockstar Spud has been granted his release and his loss for Impact may end up being WWE’s gain.
