The Weeknd Hints At Selena Gomez Breakup After She’s Spotted With Justin Bieber
The Weeknd fans think the musician could be hinting at a possible breakup with Selena Gomez after the singer – who was first linked to the “Starboy” singer back in January – was recently spotted out and about with her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber.
After Selena and Justin were photographed together on multiple occasions over the past few days following their breakup in 2014, fans of the musician noticed that he may have been hinting at a possible split on social media.
A number of Twitter users claimed that The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, may have split with Selena after noticing that he appeared to be exhibiting some pretty strange behavior across social media after Gomez and Bieber were photographed together last week.
Twitter user @vulgardahling alleged on October 29 that The Weeknd had unfollowed a number of Selena’s inner circle on Instagram, including her mom Mandy Teefey, her assistant Theresa Mingus, and a fan account which posted photos of himself and the “The Heart Wants What It Wants” singer.
Another fan also claimed that he’d unfollowed further fan accounts dedicated to himself and Gomez and alleged that he then clicked the unfollow button for a few more of the singer’s close friends on the photo and video sharing site.
Others noted that the R&B star then liked a number of photos posted to Instagram by Victoria’s Secret model Adriana Lima that were uploaded to her account several weeks ago, though he still continues to follow Gomez while she still follows him.
Fans of the couple, often referred to by the couple name “Abelena,” also noted that Gomez appeared to be a little down in a recent video posted to her Instagram Stories earlier this month where she could be seen watching the romantic drama The Notebook.
“What if Abelena is really over?” @gomezsgrande asked amid the breakup speculation. “Makes sense why Selena posted that video of her being all sad and watching The Notebook.”
“I’ve been thinking Abelena was having trouble for days,” another fan tweeted of the split rumors. “Selena came back to NYC just to see him & he got a hotel & she dipped before his show.”
Notably, the speculation began after Gomez was spotted out and about with former boyfriend Justin Bieber on multiple occasions last week.
The two were most recently spotted together as they grabbed breakfast on October 29 at a café in Westlake Village. TMZ published a snap of the two sitting across from each other while they appeared to be in deep conversation.
The sighting came just days after Bieber was spotted at the singer’s home in California on October 22 with a group of friends from their church, and the outlet alleged that he stayed at his ex’s home until midnight.
TMZ also noted that The Weeknd was “nowhere in sight” during the recent meetups but alleged that he is “fully aware” that his girlfriend has been spending time with her ex.
Despite all the new speculation that Abel and Selena may now have split, a source claimed on October 24 – mere days before he appeared to unfollow Gomez’s mom and friends on Instagram – that they were still very much together and that the “Can’t Feel My Face” singer was okay with the two hanging out.
But despite the report, some fans claimed Selena’s more recent meetups with Justin could have caused tension in her romance with Abel.
“Abel and Selena broke up, and now Justin and Abel are already friends again?” @ELBEBEKIDRAUHL wrote. “It does not make sense.”
But despite the speculation, others denied that Bieber was behind any possible breakup if the two really have called it quits after close to a year together.
“IF SELENA AND ABEL BROKE UP ITS NOT JUSTIN’S FAULT, THEY DIDN’T EVEN MEET, PLEASE LEAVE JUSTIN OUT OF THIS F***ING MESS, THANKS,” tweeted one fan of the rumors.
