Eric Bischoff Reveals Who Would Be The Cornerstone Of His New Wrestling Promotion If He Started One

Former Vice President of World Championship Wrestling and controversial figure Eric Bischoff has revealed who he would make the cornerstone of his new promotion if he was to start one. During the days of the Monday Night Wars, Bischoff led WCW to be undefeated against rival WWE for over a year and a half straight, before things rapidly turned the corner and stayed that way. Using the momentum of the uber-popular New World Order (nWo) stable, WCW provided weeks of suspenseful content, as well as depicted angles that usually revolved around either someone defecting to the nWo, or names such as Sting and “Diamond” Dallas Page defending the honor of WCW.

Unfortunately, for Bischoff, the executives at Time Warner were not interested in keeping the professional wrestling brand on air, and negotiations began to put the brand on the market for sale. While Bischoff has admitted, particularly on the Legends with JBL show, that he had some investors lined up to make the purchase, the deal fell through, and WWE pulled the rug under any other possibilities. While it is clear that Bischoff will not start another promotion, he was recently asked on the Sam Roberts Podcast of who he would choose to be the cornerstone of his new promotion if he was to start one. Bischoff’s choice was Braun Strowman.

Although Strowman is his top pick, he stated that would tweak his character a bit. Bischoff does not feel that Strowman has to be as animated as he is portrayed in WWE, seeing how his size already presents a “larger than life” character. Strowman has proven himself to be a top guy in 2017, already being involved in two WWE Universal Championship main events, competing at both SummerSlam and No Mercy. Regardless of the fan’s disapproval, his feud with Roman Reigns has been a significant boost to his career as an in-ring performer, and launched him to the next level.

As another choice for his promotion, Bischoff also made the surprising pick of Dolph Ziggler. He feels that Ziggler has the in-ring potential to be a star, and compared his talents to Kurt Angle, minus the killer instinct.
