There is a disturbing quote circulating about Vice President Mike Pence wanting to hang all gay people, attributed to President Donald Trump, stemming from the viral article titled “The Danger of President Pence: Trump’s critics yearn for his exit. But Mike Pence, the corporate right’s inside man, poses his own risks,” by Jane Mayer. According to the New Yorker, Trump has a fondness for Pence, but those hoping to resist and impeach President Trump better be warned that President Pence might not be a better solution.
Trump allegedly likes to “let Pence know who’s boss” by doing things like making fun of Pence’s belief system. One such incident described in the article features Trump asking folks if Mike made them pray after stopping by Pence’s office. Then there were the two sources who recounted how Trump reacted to Pence’s pro-life views and homosexuality beliefs. Trump allegedly made fun of Pence’s quest to have Roe v. Wade overturned, because if the Supreme Court overturned legal abortions, lots of states would most likely make abortion legal on a statewide basis. That’s when Trump allegedly told Pence he’d wasted his time and energy to end abortion. But Trump reportedly said that when it comes to giving homosexuals their rights, Pence wanted to hang all gay people.

As expected, such an incendiary statement about Pence wanting to hang gay people isn’t going over well on social media. The article titled “Trump joked Pence ‘wants to hang’ all gay people, New Yorker reports” from The Hill has been shared more than 10,000 times on Facebook alone within one hour. Likewise, the article titled “‘Pence Wants To Hang All Gay People’, Trump Joked: Report” from politicaldig.com has been shared 1,550 times on Facebook in an hour.
Similar articles, such as “Trump reportedly joked that Mike Pence wants to ‘hang’ all gays” from Theweek.com was shared on Facebook more than 200 times in about 50 minutes. The AOL article titled “Trump reportedly once joked that Pence ‘wants to hang’ all gay people” was shared more than 50 times on Facebook in about an hour. Other publications are picking up on the melee, with the Newsweek piece titled “Donald Trump mocks Mike Pence for wanting to ‘hang all gay people'” also drawing rage on Facebook. The article “Trump Once Joked Pence Wants to ‘Hang’ All LGBT People: Report” from Alternet.org gained 50 shares on Facebook in 25 minutes.
The extremely long article that has launched plenty of headlines like “‘Pence Want To Hang All Gay People’, Trump Joked: Report” from Politicaldig.com and “Trump mocked Mike Pence, said he wants to ‘hang’ LGBTQ people” from Dailydot.com also delves into Pence’s Christian belief system — but accuses Pence of “talking all this God stuff” but alleges that Pence is a person who hates Muslims and minorities. No doubt Trump will likely take to Twitter to call the report about Pence allegedly wanting to hang all gay people “fake news” any minute now.
