Those who have been following April the giraffe’s story may be thrilled to know that she has been cleared to get pregnant again and that she and her mate, Oliver, have been getting pretty cozy in their stalls lately. The folks at Animal Adventure Park in New York have given fans a pretty significant update about April and Oliver, just a few months after April gave birth to her calf, Tajiri.
“As you can see, the lovebirds are back at it again! April has been cleared for another pregnancy and has our blessing to allow nature to take its course. The cam was once shut down for nudity; perhaps it’s good we are offline during this ‘time,'” the zoo’s latest update read in part.
People all over the globe have been keeping up with April since the zoo decided to film her labor and delivery, setting up a giraffe cam in her stall. Thousands of people tuned in to watch April for several weeks, some spending several hours a day waiting for her to welcome her baby. Now, it looks like April is going to be giving this whole “having a baby” thing another go — which likely means that Animal Adventure Park will become an important part of people’s lives in another 13 months or so (assuming April does get pregnant).
Just about everyone is excited to hear that April and Oliver may become parents again. The Facebook update from Animal Adventure Park was shared over 4,000 times in three hours and the post has already received over 28,000 likes!
After April gave birth, the zoo decided to keep the giraffe cam rolling, but only on certain days at certain times. They wanted to focus on their animals and not have so much time dedicated to their online fan base. That’s not to say that they don’t appreciate all of the love and attention, but it was just the right thing for them to do.
No word yet on whether or not the zoo intends to have the giraffe cam go live 24/7 if and when April is ready to give birth, but it is safe to say that fans are absolutely thrilled to hear that April and Oliver are at it again!
