Looks like Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore were married after all. Nearly a year after Demi Moore announced her separation from Kutcher amid cheating reports, it’s her younger spouse that has decided to file for divorce.
According to PEOPLE, papers were filed by Kutcher, legally named Christopher Ashton Kutcher on Friday at the Los Angeles Superior Court. The stall in the divorce has sparked up various rumors, from the couple having financial struggles with each other, to their Kabbalah ceremony not being bound together as being legally married. You won’t find any scandalous details here, because according to the papers Kutcher cited the usual, “irreconcilable difference” as the cause for a split. In addition, Kutcher isn’t seeking any spousal support from Demi.
This move makes sense seeing as Kutcher is the highest paid actor on television. The actor currently received a $24 million in the last year for his role on Two And A Half Men . That doesn’t even include his earnings from his start up companies and investments in various technology outlets.
In addition, because Ashton and Demi never shared children, although Kutcher thought of Moore’s three daughters as his own, child support and visitation rights aren’t an issue either. At the time of their separation, Moore put out a public statement following rumors of Kutcher having a fling with a 22-year-old on their anniversary:
“As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life.”
Weeks later Kutcher released a statement of his six-year marriage with Demi Moore: “I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail.”
Since their split Ashton Kutcher has tentatively moved on quietly and has been dating actress and former costar Mila Kunis since March. Moore, however, has had troubles both personally and romantically. According to The Post her recently romance ended with the actress being dumped by 26-year old Vito Schnabel. Kutcher has hired A-list divorce attorney Laura Wasser to represent him during the proceedings.
