Is Melissa Etheridge ‘The Grinch That Stole Christmas?’
Melissa Etheridge has been accused of ruining Christmas by her ex-partner, Tammy Lynn Michaels. The former significant other wrote and posted an expressive poem to share her holiday fiscal woes and to claim that the singer is behind on child support.
The two women ceased to be a couple in 2010 after a 9-year relationship. Melissa Etheridge and Tammy Michaels were embroiled in a very nasty and very public custody battle over their twins after the split. Both women reportedly exchanged equally jagged barbs at one another during the fight to see who the twins would live with after the breakup, Radar Online reports.
An excerpt from Tammy Michael’s poem reads:
“Fascinating you know — secrets, they are. People, places, things and accounts, houses, waived rights AND relationships, money — secrets are sick — a sign of an illness within — disease. Playing games with money — phoney baloney — hide and seek — can you find the ball under the clam shell? Christmas is coming — chase the check — chase the check — chase the check — can’t — catch it — oh watch the girl go — empty stockings and tiny boxes — don’t worry — I’ll teach them what’s important.”
Michaels goes on to craft phrases in the poem which appear insinuate that Melissa Etheridge is not living up to her fiscal responsibility to the twins and claims that Michaels might be the only one with a “moral compass.”
As a part of the Michaels and Etheridge court settlement, Tammy is reportedly supposed to receive $23,000 per month from Melissa. One her blog, Hollywood Farm Girl, the singer’s ex-partner claims that checks are slow to arrive and that the lack of funds could mean that the twins might be impacted due to the lack of cash to use while Christmas shopping.
