Action star Jackie Chan has confirmed that he’s signed on for a role in The Expendables 3 , according to First Showing .

The actor recently discussed his involvement with the forthcoming sequel during a press conference for Chinese Zodiac . Chan said he was forced to pass on The Expendables 2 in order to devote time to his final foray into death-defying stunts.

Yahoo! News reports that Jackie Chan was also holding out for a meatier role. Instead of a cameo, the actor said he wanted something much more substantial.

“Sly had invited me to be in ‘Expendables 2’ but I was too busy filming [‘Chinese Zodiac’] and couldn’t make a commitment to the film,” Jackie Chan explained. “But he did extend his invitation to the third movie, which I agreed on the condition that I will be appearing as more than just a minor role with a few scenes.”

According to Screen Rant , Jackie Chan is also working on an American project called Skip Tracer . However, the actor said there’s a chance the script could magically transformed into the fourth installment in the Rush Hour franchise.

“The script is currently viewed by Chris Tucker,” Chan explained. “Personally, I feel that if he were to pick it up, it would be better if we turned it into ‘Rush Hour 4’ but I do think that three movies for the franchise is a perfect ending. It would be better to start a new buddy movie with someone new.”

Before Expendables 3 and Skip Tracer / Rush Hour 4 arrives, Chan will deliver his final stunt-oriented masterpiece Chinese Zodiac into theaters. The film is presently set to open in China on December 20.

“You may not believe it, but I still panic before shooting actions scenes,” the actor explained to China Daily . “But not many people have the chance to have an entire road blocked for them to fly above. And when shooting ‘Police Story,’ I fell off the roof of a building. When I was descending, I saw surprised girls standing in front of the window with their mouths wide open. It was fun.”
