Regina King To Direct ‘Shameless’ Season 8, Episode 4
Those who have been chomping at the bit for Shameless Season 8 news may want to keep a closer eye on social media. Shanola Hampton, known for her role as Veronica Fisher (or Vee for short) revealed the “queen” Regina King would be stepping in to direct Shameless Season 8, Episode 4.
As IMDB reveals, Regina King is a face Shameless fans should remember, as she played the reoccurring role of Gail Johnson. While Gail did not end up being a major addition to the storyline, she was an important one, as she was Fiona’s probation officer.
As those who have watched all seven seasons of Shameless know, Fiona (played by Emmy Rossum) went down a deep and dark tunnel where she made the mistake of leaving cocaine where their young brother Liam could get his hands on it. Liam ended up consuming some of the cocaine and almost died because of it.
Regina King’s character, Gail Johnson, is arguably who really saved Fiona and turned things around for her. As a probation officer, she really went above and beyond to get Fiona back home after she was released from jail early due to overcrowding. King’s character went out of her way to get Fiona a job which, in turn, resulted in her meeting and almost marrying Sean.
Regina King has an incredible filmography when it comes to movies and TV shows. She’s made appearances in many TV shows, and you may recognize her face from American Crime, The Leftovers, Seven Seconds, The Big Bang Theory, The Strain, and Southland.
King also has nine director credits to her name, including a number of TV shows such as Southland, Animal Kingdom, Pitch, Being Mary Jane, Scandal, and Greenleaf. Given the incredible highlights of her career as both an actress and a director, and the fact that she is familiar with Shameless, fans can only expect great things out of Season 8, Episode 4.

Unfortunately, Showtime has yet to confirm a release date for Season 8. While fans are still hopeful the new season will premiere this year, it might not be released until next year.
