$20K Reward Offered For Information In Murder Investigation Of Jeremy Jackson, Who Was Found Decapitated

Authorities are offering a $20,000 reward to anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the person responsible for the murder of 30-year-old Jeremy Jerome Jackson, who was found burned and decapitated in Jackson, Mississippi. The WJTV 12 reports that on Saturday, June 10, a severed head was found on the front steps of a home on Deer Park Street.

Officers with the Jackson Police Department were called to the scene and scoured the area for evidence — that’s when they encountered a burned, headless body on Green Avenue around 4 p.m., less than a mile from where the severed head was found.

Authorities identified the body on Monday during a press conference and stated that a medical examiner discovered a non-life threatening gunshot wound to Jeremy’s leg. It appears he was alive when he was decapitated, which was the cause of his death.

It was not immediately made clear when or where the murder took place, but officers are conducting an investigation. Authorities are not divulging if the Jackson decapitation murder was gang-related, but they have stated that it is not a “common find.”

People in the neighborhood say they heard gunshots followed by horrifying screams, but officers say it is too early in the investigation to determine if it is related to the murder.

The victim’s brother, Johnny Jackson, fought through tears as he recalled the last time he saw his younger brother, which was the day before he received the news about Jeremy’s decapitation. Johnny went on to say that he believes his brother’s murder was a message sent to someone or the city.

Johnny added that the victim was a Jackson State University student with a 3.0 GPA, as well as a father of three, who was trying to better his life. He now fears that the killer may strike again and they must be stopped before another family has to endure the same heartache.

Jackson Police Chief Lee Vance stated that whoever murdered Jeremy in cold blood was filled with rage, adding that he has never seen anything like it.

If anyone has information regarding Jeremy’s murder, you are urged to contact the Jackson Police Department at 601-960-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 601-355- TIPS (8477).
