Kailyn Lowry Defends ‘Teen Mom 2’ Season 8 After A Fifth Girl Is Added

Kailyn Lowry isn’t upset about Briana DeJesus’ addition to the cast of Teen Mom 2.

Although the former Teen Mom 3 star’s role on the show will result in the roles of the other girls — including Kailyn Lowry, Jenelle Evans, Leah Messer, and Chelsea Houska — being reduced, Lowry is hopeful about the upcoming installment of their hit MTV reality series.

On June 5, after DeJesus’ addition to the show was confirmed by the network, a fan asked, “Does this mean the girls are gonna get shorter story time or are they extending the time of the show?”

In response, Kailyn Lowry explained, “We will get shorter time. Around 5 mins each.”

Right away, several fans expressed their disappointment with Kailyn Lowry’s revelation, seemingly revealing that they would prefer to see the girls as much or more as they have during the show’s past seasons.

“It’ll be ok!!! Maybe y’all will like it this way!” Kailyn Lowry added.

Still, fans weren’t convinced that MTV knew what they were doing and noted that the addition of DeJesus was “BS.” Others suggested that they preferred to see only the original girls and some encouraged the network to make way for DeJesus by giving Jenelle Evans the boot.

As fans continued to weigh in on Kailyn Lowry’s revelation that she and the other girls of Teen Mom 2 would only be seen for about five minutes during each episode, one person noted that the network may have made the decision out of fear that one of the girls might soon be leaving the show.

“Maybe [MTV is] worried one of the regulars are going to quit next season?” the fan wrote.

In recent years, rumors have swirled in regard to each of the girl’s potential exits from the show, but thus far, none of the women have confirmed any solid plans to move on from Teen Mom 2. That said, both Kailyn Lowry and Jenelle Evans spoke about possible spinoff series earlier this year.

Weeks ago, Kailyn Lowry was asked about her potential plans for a spinoff show of her own, and shockingly, she revealed that her alleged new show was already in the works. As for Jenelle Evans, she said “maybe” with a winking emoji when she was asked about the same thing.

MTV announced Briana DeJesus’ addition to the cast on Monday, June 5 in a statement to Hollywood Life.

Teen Mom 2 will return to MTV this summer for another intense season, but this time with a twist. For the first time in Teen Mom history, a new mom is on the scene. Briana, whose story began on 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom 3, will join Chelsea, Jenelle, Leah and Kailyn, sharing her story on Teen Mom 2,” the network revealed.

MTV went on to reveal details about what fans can expect from DeJesus’ role on the who.

“Since the cameras stopped rolling, Briana has juggled raising five-year-old Nova with help only from her mom and sister, while also trying to balance a career and new boyfriend, Luis. She finds herself unexpectedly pregnant with her second child and hopes for the best. But when she hears shocking news about Luis, she is forced to make one of the hardest decisions a mother can face, in order to provide the best life for her new child.”

To see more of Kailyn Lowry, Briana DeJesus, Jenelle Evans, Chelsea Houska, and Leah Messer, tune into Teen Mom 2 Season 8 this summer. No word yet on a premiere date for the new installment.
