‘Dance Moms’ Cheryl Burke Slams Abby Lee Miller For ‘Traumatizing’ Students, Promises Different Approach

Dance Moms instructor Cheryl Burke is reportedly not a fan of Abby Lee Miller’s teaching style, claiming that the ALDC guru “traumatized” and “intimidated” her students.

On Tuesday’s episode of The Steve Harvey Show, Dance Moms replacement Cheryl Burke opened up about Abby Lee Miller’s “harsh” teaching style. The 33-year-old dancer revealed that the former mentor has left a negative impression on her students and their moms.

According to Burke, Miller’s strict approach gave a traumatizing experience to the girls and even their mothers. The show’s new dance instructor claimed that she noted the aftermath of Abby’s harsh coaching.

“I can just see from the kids, and even the mothers, I think they were pretty traumatized by their experience.”

Although Burke is not a fan of screaming and yelling at the students, she made it clear that she still has high standards for the Dance Moms girls. She also pointed out that her experience with Dancing with the Stars has played a huge role in her strict yet compassionate way of teaching.

“But don’t get me wrong, I’m still — from people that have seen me on Dancing with the Stars — I am still strict, I’m stern and I expect the best out of my students. But I do it in a way that’s loving and it’s caring, and I try not to intimidate them or traumatize the kids.”

Cheryl also revealed that she will maintain a completely different approach than Abby and promised to give Dance Moms students and their mothers a better experience on the show.

“I just want all of them, their last memory of Dance Moms, at least have it be a great one and a positive experience. Hopefully, that’s why I’m here and I can kind of change their memory a little bit.”

The new Dance Moms mentor also contradicted Miller’s claims that the producer and crew of the show were quite difficult to work with. Burke pointed out that in the short time that she has spent with the show’s team, her experience has been “amazing.”

“From my experience, working with production from Dance Moms, they’ve all been amazing. They’re all great. They all work so hard, so I have not seen that side of production and they’ve been nothing but a pleasure to work with. They’re just doing their job like we all are.”

It can be recalled that Miller bid goodbye to the Lifetime dance show after being the mentor for seven seasons. Abby spilled some intriguing details about Dance Moms that prompted her to leave the show.

According to the 50-year-old choreographer, the officials behind the hit dance show treated her “like dirt,” adding that she was not given proper credit for all her hard work for Dance Moms. Abby also complained about being “manipulated, disrespected and used day in and day out by men who never took a dance lesson in their lives.”

As soon as Abby left the show, the Dance Moms team immediately announced Cheryl as her replacement. Miller did not hold back in disclosing her opinion about Burke, adding that she would have a drastically different experience than her.

Abby claimed that the team is going to “treat her a hell of a lot better” than they treated her — at least for now. Apparently, Miller believes that Burke only has six years before the Dance Moms team starts “talking to her like she’s dirt too.”

The former Dance Moms star was recently convicted of fraud after hiding over $775,000 from the United States government. Abby Lee Miller was sentenced to one year of jail time and is scheduled to report to prison on June 30.
