‘Outlander’ Rumors: Diana Gabaldon Reveals The Death Of Jamie And Claire Fraser In The Series Finale

All good things must come to an end, and the latest Outlander rumors suggest that the Starz hit TV show will as well.

As fans of the show and the books already know, the third season of the show will premiere this fall, so naturally, the questions that follow include how long the show will last after this season.

According to Hall of Fame Magazine’s latest round of Outlander rumors, Gabaldon herself has admitted that she only plans on writing 10 books in the series that tell the story of Jamie Fraser (played by Sam Heughan) and his wife, Claire Randall Fraser (played by Caitriona Balfe).

And, at the end of the series, we’ll see the demise of Jamie and Claire.

“I think there are 10 books in the main series then a prequel about Jamie’s parents. But it is Jamie and Claire’s lives, so everyone’s got to die sooner or later – myself included.”

That will be a little while off, however, because of the fact that filming for Season 3 has just wrapped, and a fourth season of the show has been confirmed. Gabaldon said that she hopes there will be a fifth and sixth season, however, “we’ll just have to wait and see.”

Meanwhile, according to the Daily Record’s latest round of Outlander rumors, the show may be moving away from filming in Scotland (at least for now), but it will still retain its distinctly Scottish feel.

As fans of the show, and the books, already know, the third season filmed half of the time in Scotland, and the other half of the time in South Africa (which was meant to look like the island of Jamaica). And while the cast and crew may not return to Scotland for the fourth season (it’s possible, but it isn’t confirmed as of yet), Gabaldon says that the characters will still be distinctly Scottish, because that’s just how things were back then.

“I don’t know what will happen, but they might continue to use Cumbernauld for North Carolina because inside sets could be anywhere and there are enough places in Scotland that look like North Carolina. And, of course, even though the Scots emigrated, they stayed Scottish so there will be plenty of Scots in season four regardless.”

Finally, according to the latest Outlander rumors from the International Business Times Australia, those who tune into the show for the love scenes will be in for a real treat when the show finally airs in September.

Those who have read the books know that for 20 years, Jamie and Claire have been apart, mostly because Claire thought Jamie was dead as a result of the Battle of Culloden.

But once Claire realized that Jamie wasn’t dead, she decided to go back through the stones at Craigh na Dun to reunite with him. Needless to say, when they do finally reunite, there will be intense lovemaking scenes.

“In the beginning of the next season, Claire is forced to go back to Frank (Tobias Menzies), which is an awkward and difficult thing to do. Balfe pointed out that Claire’s first husband didn’t really do anything wrong. You know, he was her first love, he was a good husband to her, but because of circumstances, she fell in love with someone else in a much deeper and much truer way than she ever did with Frank.”
